Collection Management Policy

Collection development policies help to define the selection of materials to enhance existing materials and create unique research strengths.  Appraisal criteria are defined steps that archivists use to determine if select materials have enduring value to warrant long-term preservation in the archives.

Appraisal decisions require informed judgments in order to balance administrative and research interests while considering the resources needed to care for archival materials.  In an effort to support effective and consistent decision making, the Collection Management Policy outlines a methodology for the selection and appraisal of materials for the University Archives.
