Campus Maps
Southwest Texas State Normal School opened in the fall of 1903 with 303 students. For the first three years the entire campus consisted of a single building, known as Main, that served all the needs of faculty, staff, and students. The physical campus gradually expanded as the student body increased; the first science building was completed in 1906, a library and classroom building was constructed in 1910, and the manual arts building (now called Lampasas) followed in 1912.
A number of campus maps are available in PDF on our Research Guide, including a plat of the Chautauqua grounds (original land given by the City of San Marcos in 1899 to create this school).
