Campus Master Plans

The first campus master plan was presented in 1944 by Harvey P. Smith and Associates of San Antonio.  There are no extant copies of this plan, but we do know that Smith was the architect who established the Spanish Colonial style on campus.  According to the 2006 Master Plan, Smith selected this style to "mirror the history of the Spanish discovery of the river, and the near-identical look of the hills, limestone, and native vegetation to that of similar parts of Spain."  Quote from the Campus Master Plan, 2006-2015.
