San Marcos Daily Record negatives
The Alkek Library was awarded a FY2017 grant to begin digitizing the estimated 800,000 negatives from the San Marcos Daily Record. The $25,000 “TexTreasures” grant from the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services and the Texas State Library and Archives Commission, allowed Alkek Library to install two custom-built film negative capture stations to digitize negatives held in the University Archives.
Because of the vast quantity of materials, minimal descriptions about the negatives, and the workload already managed by a small staff, we regret that we are unable to search for specific images in the collections.
Images are made available via Flickr once they are digitized and processed. See a sample of the digitized images below, along with links to the respective Flickr pages. If you know something about any of the images posted on Flickr, please log in and add tags and/or comments so we can include this information with the image(s).
