Make a Research Appointment

For general questions about how to begin your research and what archival resources might be available, please start with Ask an Archivist. We can often assist you with basic information about campus history.

Search our Archives Database to explore collections in the University Archives.

 

We want to help you make the most of your research time; please tell us a little about your research topic so we can assist you with identifying any relevant materials prior to your visit.

  • What topic are you researching?
  • What information do you want to find?
  • Which specific materials you want to use? If you found materials in the Archives Database, please provide us with the Collection Title/Identifier so we can retrieve the materials from storage.

Research time is generally available during regular business hours, Monday-Friday between 8:30am and 4:30pm, with the last appointment for the day beginning at 3:30pm. Research appointments should be requested at least 48 hours (two working days) in advance to allow time for materials to be retrieved from storage.

 

In the event that your first choice of an appointment day and time is not available, please provide an alternate date for your research appointment.

Research appointments are scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis. An archivist will contact you about your research request.

The Wittliff Collections, also located in the Alkek Library, focuses on the Southwest’s literature, film, and music, and the photography. Please contact The Wittliff Collections directly to ask questions or schedule an appointment to see their materials.
